Bijan is the head of the gang. Thinker. Playmaker. Magic Johnson. An extraordinary character who makes the impossible happen. ”Hip hop minded, kind hearted, designed with literature and inspired by art, moving with soul.“
He unites apparent opposites and always stays open-minded, on the search for truth and substance. Passionate discussions about football, philharmonic concerts or reading Camus in the park – Bijan is a multifaceted walking library for world history, sports and international cinema. At the same time the guy from Cologne with Iranian roots is a huge motivational force for others with his powerful, warm personality and loves to take on responsibility. His inspiration? “Traveling the world, Persian cuisine, French philosophy, African American music, Italian cinema and Hawaiian Aloha Spirit.”
Bijan has been working in film and television since high school, for individual artists as well as for big companies such as Sony, Columbia TriStar, ZDF, WDR, Hans W. Geissendoerfer or Horst D. Scheel. He gained experience in several professional fields such as casting, production, directing, cinematography, light, grip and editing. At 19 years of age he shot his first documentary, ”Sayarah – 4 Taxis“ (2003), on a budget of under 30€. The film immediately won awards and was broadcast on national TV. After that he made the independent feature length films “The Cell” (2006) and “Murat B. – Lost In Germany” (2009), which, despite being micro budget productions, made their way to a number of world renowned festivals (including FFM Montréal and Hof International Film Festival) and have been published on DVD and VOD. In 2012 he graduated from the Academy of Media Arts Cologne and finished the short film “Fruit Flies” in 2013 that went on to be selected and awarded at various festivals as well (among others Studio Hamburg, Moscow, Hong Kong, Rome, Sunscreen Florida, Los Angeles, Worldfest Houston, London, Foyle). At the moment he is developing his feature film projects “Porto Portraits” and “Highway 101”. Bijan’s films are often shot guerrilla style and deal with social issues and minorities, searching for humor and poetry in everyday life.
